This weeks Eco-Tuesday post is focused on a business I truly admire: The Honest Co. For those of you who don't know much about it, The Honest Co. was founded by Jessica Alba after she had her first child and realized there were no products out there that could claim to be 100% safe and natural for babies. She was determined to start a brand that could give parents peace of mind knowing the baby products they bought were chemical free. What started off as baby lotion and soap, has now become a $1 billion brand with a product line that has grown to include diapers, prenatal vitamins, cleaning supplies and so much more.
While the products are amazing, it is the mission of the brand to be eco-conscious throughout every step of the manufacturing and packaging process that makes the business so special. Their goals include reducing the amount of toxic chemicals found in our natural and personal environments, minimize waste, supporting social issues, and promoting diversity in different ways. They source natural, renewable and sustainable materials for their packaging, use solar energy to power their offices, reduce paper use by keeping their systems electronic, and incentivize their employees to use alternative forms of transportation to get to work!
The Honest Co.'s go-green approach to business really sets it apart from others in the industry. It understands that there are higher costs to being a sustainable brand, yet unlike most businesses, it still prioritizes a minimal environmental impact. No matter what your product or service is, there is always a way to make your process eco-friendly. Imagine how amazing life would be if more companies shared this view of their responsibility to the consumer and the world!
Cheers to The Honest Co. and all the other green businesses around the world doing their part!
