#screenshottin

This past week was a whirlwind.  Monday and Tuesday weren't too busy, and then Wednesday and Thursday were so slow, I barely worked at all.  My boss let me know that July will probably be pretty slow, which didn't make me happy because I work as an independent contractor on an hourly basis.  Come Friday morning, my boss texts me and our client just got engaged, she's having a huge engagement party on Monday, and the wedding is in two months. My world just got turned upside down.  This client comes from a big family and we will be styling the entire family for every event leading up to the wedding and the wedding.  It will probably put my sanity to the test, but I'm excited to be working a lot.

I hope you're having a good weekend! Here's a roundup of some screenshots I've been taking lately.

Marriage Equality for ALL!

Today marks a beautiful, wonderful, amazing day in history! The Supreme court ruled in favor of marriage equality in all 50 states! I wake up and usually check my emails and then Instagram, and today Jose almost fell out of bed when I screamed with excitement when I saw the news! It's a good day to be an American!  I am so happy for everyone who has been waiting for this ruling so they can stand up in front of their friends and family and marry the person they love.  Congratulations!

Happy Friday!
Have a good weekend!

Ahhhh I'm just so happy!!!!!

Bathroom Envy

Just like any other room in your house or apartment, the bathroom is a place you spend enough time in to decorate it in a way that matches your style.  It shouldn't be a room you just want to get in and out of.  Make it a relaxing space, like a mini spa inside your home. That could be an all-white bathroom, or one with colorful towels and patterned tiles.  It totally depends on the person, but I think making it comfortable is always important.  These are some of my favorite bathrooms to date.

Meatless Mondays

I saw this video yesterday and I think it's important to share with you for this week's Eco-Tuesday.  It was made by the Humane Society, which has been around for more than 50 years and is the largest animal protection organization in the United States.  They work hard to end animal cruelty and promote social change for animals in a lot of ways, whether it is providing medical care or being advocates for policies on their behalf.   The video highlights the terrible conditions animals live in across the U.S. due to factory farming and how we can get involved by eating more meat-free meals.  In the past, promoting this idea of eating less meat has come from a place of concern for the environment and the health benefits to humans.  However, I'm realizing how important it is to remember what these poor animals are going through due to the high demand of meat in our country.

{ Highlights }

On average, Americans eat 200 lbs of meat each year, not including fish.

Eating so much meat is bad for us because it has been linked to heart disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.

Factory farms put family farmers out of business and pollute our air and water.

Schools across the U.S. are embracing Meatless Mondays and other meat free initiatives.

Choosing more meat-free meals is saying yes to better health, yes to a better environment, and yes to better treatment of animals.

Here's to Meatless Mondays!
Try replacing a few meals a week with meat-free ones, if you don't already!

Sunnies

Whenever I'm shopping, I always love perusing the sunglasses to see what's new.  They are such a fun accessory that can make any outfit better.  I'm looking for a new pair for the Summer and these are some I'm really loving on Shopbop right now.

Which one is your favorite?

Summer Solstice

Today is Father's Day, and it's also the first day of Summer! The endless beach days, trips to amusement parks, outdoor BBQs with friends, and July 4th (one of my favorite holidays)- there's so much fun to be had! All Summer long I will be posting about events going on around the world, my personal checklist I'd like to get through by mid-September, and anything else I feel like sharing to get you in the summer mood.  Here are a few pics from my Summatime board on Pinterest to get you extra excited for the season, if you're not already as stoked as I am! Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads out there too; especially my wonderful pops who makes my life better everyday!
