#screenshottin

Work has been kicking my ass this week, which is great, but it's been keeping me from posting.  Jose has also been out of town the past two weeks so after work I've been seeing family and old friends just so I'm not home alone every night.  This weekend I'm going to dedicate a good amount of time to writing posts so next week is chock-full of good stuff.  Today I'm sharing a #screenshottin post, but be sure to check back later to find some incredible cocktails created by Jose's sister! What a great way to start off the weekend, am I right?

Have a great day!

Summer Checklist

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend.

 Instead of only sharing my Summer checklist, I asked Jose if he would share five things he wants to do too! Now that we both know what we want to do, we can plan on knocking things off the list together, in some instances at the same time.  For example, we can stay at a hotel downtown for a weekend (my #4) and try out some new restaurants (his #3).  I hope we do more than just what's on these lists and I'm sure we'll think of five more things to add after this is posted!

{ Her List }
1. Going to this and this exhibit at the Natural History Museum.
2. Meditate more.
3. Take a hike that ends at a waterfall.
4. Plan a stay-cation somewhere in LA for Jose and I.
5. Find a drive-in movie theater.
{ His List }
1. Attend live music shows at LACMA.
2. Get another tattoo (as if he isn't covered enough).
3. Try out new restaurants downtown (like this one).
4. Go to a Dodgers game.
5. Attend a music and/or art festival.

What does your Summer checklist look like?

Health Kick

I've been feeling really down lately because I haven't been able to workout as much as I'm used to.  I rolled my ankle about two months ago and it's one of the things that will never really go away.  Any workouts involving pressure on my ankle, like running on a treadmill or crossfit classes, are out of the question right now and that narrows down my options quite a bit. I've been slowly gaining weight as a result of staying off of it to give my ankle time to heal, which leads to me saying really negative things about myself...something I'm trying hard to work on.

Yoga is something that always makes me feel good and it doesn't irritate my ankle as much as other forms of exercise; I think the balancing also strengthens it! I have been doing yoga on and off for about 7 years now and I love the way it stretches out your muscles to give you a longer, leaner looking body. So yesterday I decided to join the yoga studio in my neighborhood as a way of turning over a new leaf with a more positive appreciation of myself and my healthy body that allows me to do so much everyday.  So far, the two classes I've taken have relaxed me, given me the opportunity to center myself during that hour, and made me sweat from every single pore on my body.  I love that about yoga too, I sweat more than any other workout during my practice.  The studio, Modo Yoga, offers hot yoga in a few different ways and they have a great deal of $40 for the first month of unlimited classes, a popular offering at most exercise studios these days.  I'm going to go to one class each day for 30 days to really get this health kick going and I'll be posting updates along the way!

In addition to sweating it out, I'm sharing my green smoothie I've been making every morning for the past couple of weeks that will keep you full for hours and make you feel really good throughout the day for starting your morning off with so many fruits and veggies.  You can get all of the ingredients from Trader Joe's except for the Maca and Acai Powder I bought at Whole Foods.

My Green Smoothie

{ Ingredients }

Fruits & Veggies
1 small green apple
1/3 c. of frozen pineapple
2-3 celery stalks
1 kiwi
1 handful of spinach

Liquids
1-2 c. of Vanilla Coconut milk
1-2 tbsp. of Apple Cider Vinegar
1/2 c. of Water

Dry Ingredients
1 tbsp. of Maca Powder
1 tbsp. of Chia seeds
3 tbsp. of Vanilla Hemp Protein Powder
1 tbsp. of Acai Powder
A generous amount of cinnamon

1. Chop the fruits and veggies and add to the blender,
followed by the coconut milk and apple cider vinegar.

2. Then add the dry ingredients and the water last.

3. Then blend!

This is a large smoothie so drink it slowly and it will keep you full.  I'm lazy so I just put a straw in the blender and drink it straight from there, why have two dishes to clean?

Hope you enjoy my smoothie and if you're feeling down, do something today that will make you happy, whatever that may be! Remember, tomorrow is Friday!! Yay!

Bikini Season

My July 4th plans are starting to come together and it looks like I'll be spending the holiday in Malibu.  It will be the first of many beach days this summer so I've been looking for a new swimsuit for the season.  These are some of my favorites I've found so far!

Which one is your favorite?
